We're excited to highlight new pieces from the brilliant Alexa Hampton and her inspiration for the new additions.
Alexa's Inspiration for her New Introductions
"My love of travel and my respect for many different design eras always guide my hand when working on introductions to a collection. I like to create pieces that are as diverse and eclectic as my design work and that, selfishly, I would be able to buy and use for my clients.
As an example, this year’s introductions include chairs inspired by the Egyptian revival movement, classical Greece, Louis XV’s and Napoleon III’s courts all the way up to the designs of America’s mid-century. Each of those moments represent canonical designs moments that, to my eye, have attained a singular timelessness. That is the reason why I feel they hold so well together. And, the breadth of those influences reflects my design interests."
"A lavish sofa with all over tufting, the Wingate Sofa, is a classic silhouette with a masculine feel. Plush tight tufted seat and back, soft scrolled arms, and turned wood feet impart a handsome elegance for any room."
"I also placed a heavy emphasis this market on having lots of great and plush upholstery, which was a particular priority for me, as a great lover of sitting and lounging."
"This Russian Neoclassical stunner features inlay brass details on the apron and drawer faces in a classic modernized diamond pattern that stays true to historical influences. A leather inset top compliments the fluted legs and brass cappings bringing balance from top to bottom."
"Reminiscent of a 1930’s style chair, Ulla has a soft curved back, rounded arms and base framed in wood. A skirt conceals a swivel mechanism making Ulla both beautiful and practical."
"With a well-contoured form and button tufting, the Ava bed brings drama and comfort to the head of the bed. Shown with an upholstered show wood base finished in Cambridge."
"Simple, yet stately. The Richards Bed boasts a carved wood frame with frame and inset channeled upholstery."
